Mahindras pump in Rs 200cr into Hingna tractor plant

Tractor-maker Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) has pumped in capital investment of Rs200 crore at its 39-year old plant at Nagpur. The process started over a year ago and is nearing an end, with the last unit set to become functional soon.

Tiffany may invest Rs 100 cr in diamond unit in Nagpur’s SEZ

Premier jeweller Tiffany & Co is planning to set up a diamond processing unit in Maharashtra with an investment of about Rs 100 crore. The unit, spread over two lakh sq ft, would be the first major investment in the country.

AAI achievement award for Nagpur airport

The Nagpur Airport has received Special Achievement Award 2012-2013 from Airports Authority of India. Airport director AK Verma received it at Delhi on April 1. "This award is the result of a series of upgradations in systems under AAI in Nagpur which was possible due to excellent team work," Verma said upto his return.

Vidarbha gains with Rs3300cr fresh project proposals coming in

As the Advantage Vidarbha meet ended with memorandums of understanding (MoU) for investment to the tune Rs 18644 crore being signed, the region got fresh proposals worth over Rs 3300 crore of investments through 11 projects. These were mainly from the textile sector coming up on Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) land in Butibori and Amravati as well as one in Yavatmal. Documents signed for the rest are projects which have reached an advanced stage.

Advantage Vidarbha a success only if MoUs signed actually materialize

A day after the investors' meet 'Advantage Vidarbha' wrapped up, industrialists expressed satisfaction with government's attitude but hoped that there will be proper follow up on investment proposals. Sunil Gutte, joint managing director of Sunil HiTech Engineers Ltd, said, "My perception of the event was extremely positive. Rs18,000 crore worth of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) were signed during the event and by any count it is a good number. But I do hope these translate into real investments."

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation to pump in Rs 60crore in region

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MDTC), that has a particularly poor record in promoting Vidarbha tourism, has now lined up Rs 60 crore for the region. This includes Rs 10 crore for developing adventure tourism at Khindsi lake in Ramtek. MTDC will be spending Rs 50 crore on eco-tourism, of which Rs 37 crore will come from the central government, said its managing director Dr Jagdish Patil, during the session on 'Regional tourism: Strategies for growth' in Advantage Vidarbha meet.
